Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines: Set out to visit the mysterious lands of Southeast Asia with this exclusive itinerary covering six countries! From Bali to Hong Kong, embark aboard L’Austral for an exceptional 17-day cruise.

Highlights

• Visit the incredible UNESCO World Heritage site of Prambanan & Borobudur, home to some 240 sanctuaries.

• Discover Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei. The city is home to beautiful museums as well as the largest village built on stilts in the world.

• Sail towards Kota Kinabalu. Located on the Malaysian island of Borneo, the city is dominated by Mount Kinabalu, after which it is named.

• Visit Puerto Princesa and its underground river, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which weaves its way through a cave of giant stalactites and stalagmites, as well as the secret island of El Nido with its sumptuous landscape of turquoise lagoons, deserted beaches and limestone cliffs.

If you are looking for exoticism and authenticity, you’ll be totally captivated by the island of Bali seated in the heart of the Indonesian archipelago. The beauty and diversity of its landscapes, the richness of its cultural heritage, and its many activities and attractions make Bali a paradisiacal destination. The southern coast of the island will win you over with its vast beaches of fine sand, its emerald rice paddies and picturesque fishing villages, like Benoa.
The strategic location of Semarang, located on the northern coast of Java, has become a cosmopolitan city combining Chinese, Indo-Arab and European cultures. Before going off to explore the region’s treasures, you can explore the old town and its old colonial buildings. In the most Chinese of Indonesian cities, the Chinese district is definitely a must. If you prefer culture, then head for the lush green hinterlands with its rich volcanoes and emerald rice paddies where you’ll find the royal cities of Yogyakarta and their temples.
Off the eastern coast of Sumatra, the Indonesian Bangka Belitung archipelago, still wild and unspoilt, is worth a visit to its long beaches of white sand edged by clear turquoise blue waters. On the island of Bangka, a gem of natural green, you will revel in the joys of the sea, far from busy, soulless beaches. Protected by immense granite rocks, Parai beach, north-east of Bangka Island, is a real tropical Eden. Comfortably installed in the shade of palm-trees, at the water’s edge, you’ll succumb to the ease and tranquillity offered to you in this picture postcard décor.
Nicknamed “the garden city”, Singapore stretches along the southern coast of Malaysia. You’ll be amazed by the incredible vitality of this city-state in Marina Bay. Not far from here, the historical centre offers an unusual mix of neoclassical buildings and contemporary tower blocks. Bedecked with plant sculptures, the pavements of Orchard Road are also brimming with commercial shopping malls. The colourful markets of China Town and Little India provide an opportunity for a bite to eat in a Hawker Center - a snack bar in one of the city’s typical streets.
Posted on the north-east coast of the Malaysian State of Sabah, on the island of Borneo, Kota Kinabalu is an excellent stopover for exploring the whole region. If you like adventure, its proximity with Kinabalu makes it a destination of choice. But before you start to climb the holy mountain, you can stop in the heart of the metropolis, that the initiates nicknamed KK, because it has some interesting surprises in store for you. Although, there isn’t much left of its colonial heritage, the city’s multiple ethnicity will seduce you, especially in its food, and in the warm, picturesque abundance that reigns there. Don’t miss a stroll along the city’s busiest promenade, the colourful Waterfront.
Puerto Princesa, in the centre of Palawan island, is a great place for discovering a large portion of the natural sites of which there are many in the region. If you’d like to see nature in her most spectacular finery, your dreams will more than come true in the karstic topography of the underground river in the national park of Puerto Princesa, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
To the far north of Palawan island, El Nido is famous for its black rock cliffs where the nests of “salanganes”, a kind of sea lark, are harvested and eaten as a delicacy. This village opens its doors onto the magnificent Bacuit archipelago. These stunningly beautiful islands provide a unique setting for marine adventurers. Among the most beautiful spots for snorkelling in the Philippines, are the deep blue lagoons from which vast, steep rocks rise, staging an outstanding display. The many beaches of immaculate sand and other wild creeks are divine refuges for relaxing after your thrilling experiences.
Hong Kong, known as the “Fragrant harbour”, bordered by the South China Sea, is a heady place attracting tourists from the world over. This former British colony today combines ultramodern shopping malls and authentic markets like the Ladie’s Market or the night market on Temple Street. At first sight, you’ll be overwhelmed by the city’s architecture which, because of lack of ground space, reaches skywards, with its 1,250 skyscrapers and other towers. Believing is seeing, so if you go up to Victoria Peak, the highest point on the island, you’ll see a dizzying and unforgettable view of the bay.
